Farm Description:
The Wynooche River Ranch is a 165-acre ranch on the Wynooche river in the foothills of the Olympic Mountains near the coast of Washington. Montesano, just 10 mins away, is the closest town with all the modern conveniences including an organic grocer, hardware store, farm store, etc. The ranch’s goal is to build a 100% self-sufficient community around food, energy, and medicine. Having the food systems built, with room for expansion, the ranch grows a wide range of its food. This includes a wide range of animal products (dairy, beef, pork, poultry, etc.), trees (fruits, nuts, etc), and cultivated, as well as wild, vegetables, medicinal herbs, perennials, and herbs.
The ranch offers endless opportunities to teach new skills while honing others. A partial list of the things that happen here are: Animal & pasture management, orchard care, growing perennial & annual gardens, food forest development, food preservation methods, bread making, cheese & butter making, charcuterie, cooking (baking, fermenting, and menus for large catering events), beekeeping, construction, natural medicine – basically anything that one can imagine happens on a ranch, happens on this ranch.
This is an opportunity to carve out a unique experience. The ranch wants interns to have an experience that will be valued and will serve the interns for the rest of their lives.

We love animals, but do not allow personal animals on the farm like cats, dogs, etc.
