We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Ranch Hand to join our team and play a pivotal role in the continued success of our operation.

Position Overview:

As the Lead Ranch Hand, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our cow-calf operation. This includes the day-to-day operations, herd health, breeding programs, pasture management, and overall ranch maintenance. You will work closely with our team to ensure the highest standards of animal care, production efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities Include:

1. Herd Management

  • Implement and oversee breeding programs to optimize herd genetics.
  • Ensure the health and well-being of the livestock through regular health checks and vaccinations.
  • Manage calving processes and assist as needed.
  • Ordering food for animals and managing the ranch’s overall inventory

2. Pasture and Forage Management:

  • Develop and implement pasture management plans to maximize forage production.
  • Monitor and maintain pasture health, rotational grazing, and weed control.
  • Implement sustainable land management practices.

3. Team Leadership:

  • Lead a team of ranch hands, contractors, and vendors – BY EXAMPLE!
  • Provide training and guidance to ensure a cohesive and efficient work environment.
  • Foster a culture of safety, respect, and excellence within the team.

4. Facility and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Oversee the maintenance of ranch facilities, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate repairs and improvements to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of necessary supplies.

5. Record Keeping and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of herd health, breeding activities, and other relevant data.
  • Prepare regular reports for management, detailing herd performance and ranch operations.

6. Proven experience in managing a cow-calf operation.

  • Strong knowledge of livestock health, nutrition, and breeding practices.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Experience with pasture and forage management.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Knowledge of sustainable ranching practices.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.

7. Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Compensation: $45,000 to 75,000 + Bonuses (Profit-Share)
  • Competitive salary BASED on experience and qualifications.
