Hiatus Ranch
Looking for hard worker, dedicated, drug free individual, who will Care for livestock; we have cows, sheep, goats, alpaca, pigs, chickens, horses, donkeys. There is no “normal day “, each day presents its new challenges. The main priority each day is feed water care of the animals first! Then projects such as fence building, building repairs , cleaning up the ranch, and other task to get it ready for the participants next year.(we are a 501c3 non profit) you DO NOT have to be a veteran for this position.
Little bit about what we are doing and why we have the livestock.
The establishment of Hiatus Ranch of Idaho intends to explore the ongoing conversation of suicide prevention among veterans, while continuing the age-old, proven and powerful bond between horse and rider. Horses help heal and have long been used for rehabilitative therapies. Attending veterans will live onsite in individual housing units that will have all basic living needs provided.
The participants will take part in a program of equine care and basic horsemanship, from beginner all the way through to advanced, as they choose. Treating the whole person, we will also offer guidance and assistance via professional financial advisors to help veterans manage the financial aspect of their lives, as needed, leading to greater independence and stability.
The essentials of animal husbandry including horses, cows, pigs, chickens, goats, sheep, and alpaca will be taught while on the ranch. This kind of knowledge will help to further a sense of responsibility for those creatures that require help for survival, fostering interdependency and nurturance and will further the bonds between man and animal.
Housing ALL meals (home cooked meals! ) provided.
All utilities, electricity, heat, washer, dryer, linens, bed, etc all you need is your personal belongings,. Salary paid monthly
