LIVE-IN NANNY / FAMILY ASSISTANT & GROUNDSKEEPER
Working Couple — Private Wyoming Working Cattle Ranch
Saratoga, WY | Live-In | Full-Time | Year-Round | Long-Term | W-2
THE OPPORTUNITY
Heyday is conducting an exclusive search for a working couple to join a warm, adventurous family on a private cattle ranch in Saratoga, Wyoming. This is not a traditional placement or a short-term opportunity. This is an invitation to build a meaningful life on an extraordinary piece of land with a wonderful community.
THE FAMILY
A lovely couple in their mid-30s with a beautiful 9-month-old daughter and two beloved dogs, who envision growing their family. Paternal grandmother lives on the property, as do long-term ranch employees, some who’ve been there for decades.
The family enjoys fishing internationally, skiing in the winter, and growing food in their greenhouse. They are seeking a couple who will share in their love of the land and bring a collaborative spirit to enjoying what some might call the “good life” in this unique and beautiful place.
DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS
Must love children. Must love dogs. Must love snow.
Everyone who works and lives on the ranch works together respectfully and joyfully, pitching in wherever needed. Please be warm, flexible, honest, and enjoy working as members of a team.
Please be open and exceptional communicators. English fluency is a requirement, and a couple who also speaks Spanish would be fantastic, but not required. Nationwide background and reference checks will be conducted. Please be 4WD-capable drivers.
Seeking a versatile couple who can move fluidly between the needs of the child(ren), dogs, home, greenhouse, running to town, and the demands of the land. Rather than rigid roles, we are looking for a partnership that balances the following core needs together:
- Family & Childcare: The safety, happiness, and nurturing of the child(ren) will always be the top priority. The ideal candidate will share in their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development, and care for them with warmth and joy — in alignment with the family’s parenting style and in support of their family unit.
- The Household: The main house is the heart of the ranch. We are looking for a couple who enjoys all aspects of planning and cooking healthy meals. Please have experience with or interest in growing food, as there is an established greenhouse on the property. Other duties include family laundry, tidying, light housecleaning, organizing, errands, grocery runs to Laramie, dog care, and basic scheduling.
- The Grounds: The ranch requires a proactive hand. This includes lawn maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, and fence repair. You should be comfortable with equipment operation, building upkeep, and coordinating with subcontractors to keep the property running smoothly. Interest in calving is a plus, but not required. There may be an opportunity to take on additional responsibilities in cattle ranching in the future.
- Travel & Housesitting: You’ll play a key role in supporting the family’s travel needs with housesitting and caring for the dogs. As the child(ren) grow, responsibilities may expand to include childcare during parents-only trips. Opportunities for accompanying the family on domestic or international travel may also arise.
- Adaptive Scheduling: There are certain times of the year when you’ll have a lot more time to yourselves than others. Sometimes scheduling can shift day-to-day. Candidates should be prepared for the rhythm of calving season, a rewarding yet demanding period of renewal on the ranch. While these positions do not involve direct livestock handling, they require an understanding of the intensity of the season—to support the estate’s overall flow, as the ranch team ensures the next generation of livestock gets the best possible start.
COMPENSATION
- Competitive Salaries with Zero State Income Tax: Maximizing your take-home pay for a high-quality Wyoming lifestyle.
- The full compensation package — including a private 800 sq. ft. 2-bedroom, 1-bath home with all utilities, health insurance, IRA contributions, and ranch beef — is designed to make this an exceptional opportunity for the right couple.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND
This is a town of 1,700 people. Wyoming is a predominantly white, rural state, which could be a bit of a culture shock if you’re coming from a more diverse environment. The family welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and is genuinely kind, authentic, and inclusive.
The nearest full grocery store is 1.5 hours away. Winters are beautiful, yet long, and life and work do not stop for the snow. There are predatory animals to learn about and be mindful of. This role is for a couple longing for big skies who’d like to choose this unique lifestyle for their family intentionally, not for folks desiring a temporary adventure.
TO APPLY
If committing long-term to this way of life sounds exciting and you would like to learn more, we would love to speak with you.
Please send a brief introduction about both partners — your backgrounds, experience, and what draws you to this specific opportunity and lifestyle. Please include your resumes and any relevant letters of recommendation, and send them to our email address listed.
