Part-Time On-Site Barn Caretaker (Golden Gate National Recreation Area)

Looking for a rewarding part-time job surrounded by horses, nature, and a great community? We’re a small, friendly equine co-op located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area in Sausalito, just over the Golden Gate Bridge.

Schedule:

Part-time, 5 days/week (Thurs–Mon)
Morning shift (flexible start 5–7am, ~3–4 hrs)
Evening turn-in (5–6pm, ~30–40 mins)
Total: 4–5 hours/day

Duties include:

Feeding and graining, stall and paddock cleaning, turning horses out and in, blanketing (rainy season), cleaning water buckets and troughs.

Requirements:

Horse experience required
Able to do physical work (lifting hay bales, pushing wheelbarrows)
Reliable and comfortable working independently
Clean background check to work around children and animals

Not a grooming or riding position.

Live-on-site option:

Space available to park a self-contained RV or trailer (up to 30 ft). Electricity, WiFi, outdoor hot shower, and indoor bathroom available.

Compensation:

This role is paid hourly at a rate of $20 to $25. The number of hours per day is based on the number of horses being cared for. Pay varies between $100-$125. We have a max capacity of 13 horses.
