SGB Ranch
We’re offering a long-term, live-in opportunity on a small, peaceful horse ranch in the Colorado mountains. This is not a full-time job, but a meaningful position for someone who values nature, animals, and a quiet lifestyle with supplemental income.
Daily Horse Care Responsibilities
- Feed 3 horses twice daily (morning and evening)
- Lead horses to and from pasture
- Muck stalls and clean pastures
- Occasionally clean hooves as needed
- Refill pasture water bins as needed
- Repair fences as needed
- Shovel snow from stable runs during winter
- Other tasks as needed
Property Caretaker Duties
Minimum of 12 hours per month “may” include the following tasks:
- Plow driveway and remove snow from decks
- Stain deck and house exterior (assisted with owner)
- Perform minor handyman repairs
- Cut down dead trees and branches (not required for hiring but preferred)
- Assist with gardening and seasonal upkeep (weed whacking, pulling weeds)
- Other maintenance tasks as needed
- Everyone brings something unique, and we’re happy to consider a variety of skills that may benefit the ranch. If you have talents beyond the listed tasks we’d love to hear about it.
Compensation
- $300/month minimum pay
- Free, fully equipped private apartment
- Additional work beyond the 12 monthly hours Property caretaker duties will be negotiated fairly
Apartment amenities and other
- Cable TV and STARLINK internet
- Washer/dryer
- Ample closet space
- Comfortable mattress, sheets, and towels
- Access to a Kawasaki Mule and work truck for chores
- Large workshop building available for hobbies or storage
Requirements
- Experience with horses handling
- Good physical condition
- Timely communication via text
- No smoking
- No dogs allowed
We’re looking for someone who’s tidy, courteous, upbeat, and dependable — someone who communicates clearly, takes pride in their work, and is physically capable of light outdoor tasks. If you’re semi-retired, work from home, or simply want a peaceful mountain lifestyle with meaningful but manageable responsibilities, this could be a great fit.
