About Us

End of the Trail Rescue is home to 50 rescue horses who play an integral role in our Equine-Assisted Mental Health Programs. Our ranch houses two nonprofits dedicated to healing and second chances.

Our sister organization, Dream Catcher Therapy Center, is a full-service mental health clinic located on a serene 40-acre ranch in Olathe, Colorado. We are seeking a dependable and compassionate individual to help care for our magnificent horses — affectionately known as our 4-Legged Therapists.

Position Summary

The Part-Time (with potential for FULL TIME) Ranch Hand/Equine Specialist will primarily be responsible for feeding horses. This role also includes cleaning stalls and pens, watering animals, brushing horses, and moving them from pasture to their nighttime pens.

We are seeking help 2–3 days per week, with at least one of those days being a weekend day.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and confident managing multiple responsibilities in a dynamic ranch environment. Prior horse experience is a MUST. Please note: you may not bring your child to work with you.

Qualifications

Because we work with horses, physical labor is a significant portion of this position. Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift up to 60 pounds
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions
  • Handle routine ranch chores safely and efficiently
  • Be at least 18 years old and have dependable transportation

PRIOR HORSE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. This position is not suitable for individuals who are learning basic horse handling skills.

Applicants must be able to confidently and safely:

  • Feed horses
  • Halter and lead horses
  • Handle horses appropriately in a variety of situations
  • Recognize and understand normal horse behavior and body language
  • Follow ALL safety protocols around our horses

Working with rescue horses requires confidence, patience, consistency, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic. Many of our horses have experienced neglect, abuse, or trauma and rely on calm, knowledgeable handlers who can earn their trust while maintaining safe boundaries.

The ability to follow instructions, complete assigned tasks thoroughly, and work responsibly with minimal supervision is essential. Our horses depend on us every day, and so does our team.

Veterinary Technician experience is strongly preferred and will be considered a valuable asset.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter to our email address. Mention you saw us on RanchWork.com.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. End of the Trail Rescue is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
