This is a part-time position for The Freed Ranch in Steamboat Springs, CO.
As a ranch hand you will be responsible for the care and welfare of the homestead.

The daily tasks involve maintaining the property and the grounds. The lifestyle of a ranch hand can be satisfying for those who appreciate a sense of routine and simplicity to work outdoors. Those who work at The Freed Ranch in Steamboat can enjoy the state’s picturesque landscapes and diverse recreational opportunities, such as hiking, hunting, and fishing outside of working hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain property appearance
- Operating and maintaining agricultural and construction machinery
- Building, repairing, and maintaining ranch facilities
- Performing other duties as assigned by the ranch owner
- Trimming trees and cutting firewood
- Maintaining ranch fences
- Snow removal
- General maintenance and construction
- Planting, fertilizing, pruning, weeding,
- Running errands as necessary to have ample and adequate tools and supplies
- Maintaining general upkeep and presentation of the ranch
- Performing basic ranch maintenance tasks and repairs
- Ensure roads, pathways, fences, gates, lighting, septic systems, wells, and ponds are maintained and are in good working order.
- Preparing outdoor areas for various weather conditions by weatherproofing, storing items as needed, tying down unsecured items
- Responsible to keep up the condition of all barns and fences
- Responsible for maintaining all ranch equipment in good working order.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to work hands-on
- Strong work ethic
- Must be able to work individually
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
- Must be able to prioritize tasks
- Experience in farming and gardening
- Basic knowledge of plants
- Willingness and capable of physical labor in all weather
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Courteous and professional at all times
- Be able to maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Working knowledge of septic, well, electrical, mechanical systems
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing and painting skills
- Knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and machinery
All thought this is a part time position (15 hours a week). this allows the right person to locate work in town for additional hours. The ranch will be building housing within the next two years for the ranch hand.
