Jill & Josh
My name is Jill, together with my husband Josh, we are a dependable and hardworking couple looking for a long-term ranch or estate caretaking position. Together, we bring decades of experience in equipment operation, property maintenance, practical problem solving and strong organizational and hospitality skills. We pride ourselves on being reliable, self sufficient, trustworthy and committed to caring for a property with care and attention to detail.
I first came to the United States from Australia in 2009 to visit family in Bozeman, Montana. During that trip I met Josh, and in 2012 I relocated to join him in Whitefish, Montana, bringing my three children with me. They are now grown and living their own lives, our two sons remain in Whitefish, while our daughter has returned to Australia.
I am 50 years old and have worked in hospitality and customer service since I was 18. My experience includes roles as a restaurant owner, cook, barista, and retail associate in outdoor gear stores. These positions have given me strong skills in guest services, organization, and maintaining welcoming, well-presented environments. I take pride in being reliable, hardworking, and attentive to detail. Managing a household while raising three children also instilled in me a deep appreciation for keeping spaces clean, organized, and comfortable. I have always worked in active, hands-on roles and enjoy the physical nature of outdoor work and property upkeep.
My husband Josh, age 51, brings extensive practical experience that is ideally suited to ranch and estate management. When we first met, he was living on an organic farm and working at a dairy near Kalispell, Montana, where he was employed from 2008 through 2021. During those years he gained significant experience with tractor and skid steer operation, equipment maintenance, snow removal, and general farm operations, as well as assisting with livestock and other daily responsibilities. This work was year-round, so he is very comfortable working outdoors in demanding weather conditions.
Prior to working at the dairy, Josh spent two winters as the caretaker of a remote ranch, located near the Gros Ventre Wilderness in Wyoming. In this role he was responsible for snow clearing, property and trail maintenance, monitoring off-grid systems, and general upkeep of the ranch during the winter months. He also worked two summers there as a wrangler when the ranch hosted guests, assisting visitors and leading horseback rides while helping with daily ranch operations. Prior to his arrival out West, Josh owned a successful landscaping business, gaining him expertise in designing and maintaining high end gardens, operating a wide range of equipment and managing a skilled team of employees.
In 2021, Josh and I started a small business together building custom camper vans and installing truck campers on four-wheel-drive vehicles. We purchased new Ford Transit vans and transformed them into fully functional off-grid homes on wheels, complete with cabinetry, electrical systems, plumbing, and sleeping areas. I focused on design and interior aesthetics while also assisting with construction, while Josh handled much of the structural work, systems installation, and fabrication. Working together on these projects strengthened our teamwork and reinforced how well we collaborate in both creative and practical environments.
Now that our children are grown and our business chapter has come to a close, we are excited to focus on the next stage of our lives together. Ranch caretaking and estate management is a natural fit for both of us. We are passionate about the outdoors and the daily challenges and beauty of living a rural life.
Together we offer a strong combination of hands-on maintenance experience, equipment operation, guest hospitality, and a shared commitment to caring for a property with pride and attention to detail. Josh and I value honesty, reliability and a great deal of care and commitment to everything we do and we would love the opportunity to bring or skills and our values to your home and property.
