A little about me and why I’m seeking this line of work
My name’s Chris I’m 22 years of age and I’m seeking an entry level opportunity to work full time year round or close to it, at a ranch or livestock/dairy farm with housing provided. As for why I’m persuing this type of job I’ve been interested in doing so for a couple years at this point but unfortunately due to being located in the Chicago suburbs for the entirety of my life the opportunities have been extremely limited. As someone who enjoys being out in nature including doing long distance physical exercise biking mainly especially during the spring and summer, having enjoyed my limited experience riding horseback in my youth and doing tours of various livestock farms in my area that I did in person job interviews at, I’ve wanted to peruse this as a long term career path for a long time now. However as I touched on prior due to the suburban/urban nature of where I grew up finding this type of work has been extremely challenging and after interviewing at a couple livestock and mixed livestock and crop farms in my area over the last couple years sending out a half dozen or so job applications to every livestock farm in a 35 mile radius via email and having no success. Along with the fact that before I even considered persuing this line of work I’ve wanted to flee the Chicago area and relocate somewhere more rural and right wing where the people would be less hostile and more congruent with my values and ideals I’ve decided to make this job wanted post. As of right now I’m currently working at a plastic injection molding factory and prior to that at a distribution warehouse along with a short stint in fast food. Probably needless to say but these are just jobs I’ve done to make money and nothing else I’ll be turning 23 in half a year and decided to stop prolonging a serious search for a real career path as of making this post.
Why you should consider me for this position
Although I lamentably don’t have any real prior experience in any of the composite tasks that go into ranch work horsemanship, vehicle operation, working with cattle etc I do have some attributes I believe make me the ideal entry level candidate. Firstly I have prior experience doing physical work including in a non climate controlled warehouse environment as well as a long career playing high level tennis all over the country on the national Junior Circuit in my youth so endurance nor hot/cold weather would be an issue for me. Second since housing would be something required for any prospective employers I wouldn’t be moving in with any pets or other people, don’t do any drugs prescribed or recreational or even drink alcohol, and also have my own car so you wouldn’t have to worry about transportation issues. Lastly I’m sure everyone states this about themselves but I’m very conscientious and take great care in doing my tasks well and am very eager to learn about and work in this industry.
How to contact me:
If you’re interested in extending an offer contact me through email I’d be more than happy to do an interview over the phone but see no reason to make my number public on this site. Please tell me where you are located, general ideas about wages as well as provisions for housing and food that would be provided as well as a general overview of the position available and when I would be starting. If you would like a resume of my prior work experience I’d be happy to send it over via email and if you would like references for these jobs as well I’d have to try and obtain the contact information for these employers by request in the introductory email as I’ve never applied for a job that needed to contact any of my possible references so I don’t have them on hand or typed onto my resume.
Sincerely, Chris
