Looking for a job working with horses!

Montana – Colorado – Idaho – Wyoming – Oregon

I am in my 40s and have had horses the majority of my life as both my father and grandfather had horses, and I was instantly hooked. I have been riding since I was a child.  Started my first colt when I was fourteen and ever since it’s been one of my favorite things to do. I love watching the horses learn, seeing things ‘click’ and watching them transform into a willing, honest partner. I don’t force things as I firmly believe the horse needs to know what you are teaching it before you can properly advance on to the next thing. I absolutely love working with unhandled horses, clean slates and problem horses. I love a challenge! I am happy to work with any horse!

I grew up in a family that hunts and spends a lot of time in the back country, hiking, camping, horseback riding, hunting, and just being in nature. Nature and horses are probably my biggest passions in life.

I have worked as a wrangler before and wouldn’t mind doing that again. I’ve driven a team before but that was when I was seventeen or eighteen. I wouldn’t mind learning to pack in for hunting or similar jobs like that, I’ve definitely spent a lot of time in the mountains on horseback.

For about 10 years I had several broodmares, stood some stallions, and had foals every spring so I have experience with everything that comes along with that as well.  I ran my little ranch by myself and did everything from cleaning stalls, feeding, turnouts, irrigation, fixing fences, and everything else that comes along with owning livestock.

I am great with a camera, good with social media and can help advertise sale horses. I worked for a cutting trainer when I was 18 and would absolutely love to work with cutters again. One of my stallions came from Texas and was a cutting horse and I had a lot of fun with him. I’ve ridden reiners but my experience there is limited but I am always willing to learn.  I could throw a rope pretty good when I was in high school but haven’t tried in years, but again that is something I could do again.

I have limited experience with cattle. I’ve helped feed and doctor them, helped run the chutes at ropings, I can definitely cut a cow and move them around horseback but thats about as far as my experience there goes.

I am willing to learn, always.

I’m hardworking, honest, and loyal. Wanting to find a place I can stay at long term but would consider a seasonal job as well. I just need to find something and really want to find the right fit this time!

I am currently in Texas but will be headed towards Colorado soon and am hoping to find something in the northwest part of the US. Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Oregon (maybe), Wyoming (maybe) and possibly the Dakotas would be my top choices of places to be.  I’m a mountain girl, I prefer cold weather over hot weather and just couldn’t hack this Texas heat and flat landscape. I really miss the mountains!

I do have a dog, a very well behaved 4 year old border collie mix who is completely house broke and gets along with everyone and everything. She has to come with me and we will need housing.  I have several saddles and some tack I will be bringing with me.

Available to start ASAP, I would just need time to travel to wherever the job is.  Planning to leave Texas by May 26th and head towards Colorado. Since I will be traveling, I may not be able to answer my phone but if you leave me a message I will call you back as soon as I am not driving!
