Our names are Tanner and Katlin M., we are a husband and wife team. We are currently on the Idaho/Oregon border, working on a very remote ranch with no power, we run things 24/7 except when the boss is here, but other than that the responsibility falls to us and us alone. We are looking for ranch work either ranch hand or a manager position. We have no children, but would need housing. We have 3 working cow dogs, 2 cats, a horse, and a cow we hope to run with someone else. Our goal is to find somewhere long term down south, preferably Texas, and one day find our own place to have our own cows on.
Tanner grew up in the ranch world of Montana and has worked on various ranches growing up, his dad was also a contractor for 30 years, he helped his dad and worked on different ranches, up until he bought a sawmill and started working as a logger (operating heavy equipment) full-time. He planned to continue his business and make money that way until the timber market crashed last year, which then forced us to move and landed us here.
His skill set is a set of many various things. As ranch manager it has required him to take care of everything, this is a small list of things he can do. This includes roping, riding, doctoring, fencing, irrigating, haying, anything to do with cows, working young horses, farrier work, welding, black smithing, sawyering, carpentry, can mechanic on anything you need. He can do pretty much anything you ask him to and will tell you if he can’t. He will never tell you he can do something if he can not.
Katlin did not grow up doing this, she helps her husband day to day with anything that goes on the ranch. She grew up in the city, but did housekeeping, worked for an herbalist, was a florist for a time, and worked at a greenhouse. She has since learned to ride, fence, pretty much whatever needs done she is happy to help.
What we are both looking for, Tanner is looking for a place where he can make things better, he’s not looking to take over but rather make things work smoothly and better for everyone involved in the whole operation, looking for someone who doesn’t micro manage and can trust him to take care of the important things. Is looking for a management position but is happy with a ranch hand outfit if it’s the right fit.
Katlin is looking for a place where she can help her husband because she enjoys the lifestyle while still being able to manage the household and make home cooked meals at home. We like to do things the natural way and feel that it’s important to eat healthy.
