Jasmine S.
Hi everyone! I’m 21 years old and currently based in Oregon. I’m looking for a full-time, preferably year-round opportunity in ranch work, livestock care, or a horse training apprenticeship. I’m open to relocating nationwide for the right opportunity!
I have previous horse experience, including approximately a year of western riding lessons and several months working at a dude ranch. During that time, I gained hands-on experience with tacking and untacking horses, assisting with guided trail rides, moving cattle, and general horse care.
I’m also currently participating in a horse internship that will conclude in December, where I’m continuing to build my knowledge and hands-on experience.
For nearly two years, I’ve worked full-time at an animal sanctuary, primarily handling and caring for dogs with a wide variety of temperaments, personalities, and behavioral challenges. My responsibilities involve animal handling, behavior observation, managing group dynamics, training new employees, and maintaining a safe environment for both animals and staff.
Working with dogs professionally has taught me patience, confidence, adaptability, and the importance of remaining calm and making good decisions in unpredictable situations. I’m no stranger to physically demanding work or challenging circumstances, and I take pride in being someone who remains committed to their responsibilities even when things aren’t easy.
My biggest goal is to build a long-term career working with horses and livestock. I’m particularly interested in learning groundwork, colt starting, working with green horses, and Western disciplines such as cutting, reining, and ranch work.
I’m very open about having limited ranching and horse training experience. I don’t claim to know everything, and I’m not afraid to ask questions or accept criticism.
I’m looking for an opportunity to learn, work hard, and develop the skills necessary to become a knowledgeable, capable, and valuable member of a ranch or training operation.
I’m equally interested in general ranch hand positions, whether that involves feeding livestock, maintaining property, repairing fences, cleaning stalls, or whatever else needs to get done. I’m more than willing to start at the bottom, prove myself, and work my way up.
What I’m looking for:
- Full-time, preferably year-round paid employment
- Ranch hand, livestock, wrangler, or horse training apprenticeship opportunities
- Hands-on experience and opportunities to continue learning
- Housing preferred if relocating, ideally dog-friendly
- A positive working environment with opportunities for long-term growth
A little about my relocation plans:
My current lease ends in March 2027, so I’m beginning my search early to give myself plenty of time to research opportunities and find the right fit. I’m currently employed full-time and completing my horse internship, so I’m in a position to plan my next steps carefully rather than rush into something.
I would also be relocating with my 7-year-old Cane Corso. She’s house-trained, fully vaccinated, and I have veterinary records available. She’s been exposed to over 200 dogs throughout her life and has also been around horses, cattle, and a pig. I’m very experienced in handling her and understand the importance of responsible management around livestock and other animals. I would be looking for housing that allows her.
I have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and am comfortable with physical labor, long days, and working outdoors in all kinds of weather.
Above all, I’m looking for somewhere I can invest my time, effort, and loyalty. I take my work seriously, value consistency, and believe that being dependable means showing up and giving your best even on the difficult days. I’m not expecting to walk into an advanced position, but I am hoping to find someone willing to invest in an individual who genuinely wants to learn and make a career out of this industry.
Compensation & Relocation:
I’m currently employed full-time, working 40 hours per week at $22.58/hour (approximately $47,000 annually). Ideally, I’m seeking comparable compensation and consistent full-time employment, but I’m open to discussing opportunities depending on the responsibilities, hours, housing, and benefits offered.
I understand that my ranching and horse training experience is still developing, and I’m willing to be flexible for the right opportunity, especially one that offers hands-on learning, mentorship, and room for professional growth.
Ultimately, I’m looking for a position where I can contribute, continue developing my skills, and build a financially sustainable career in the industry.

I’d love to hear about any opportunities, recommendations, or advice from those already working in the industry. Thank you for taking the time to read!
