Chad S.
29-year-old looking for a full-time ranch hand/cowboy position. Currently in Hawaiʻi but willing to relocate anywhere in the mainland U.S. for the right outfit. Housing preferred.
I’m looking for a place where I can work hard, learn, and stay long-term. I have professional livestock/ranch experience in Hawaiʻi as well as experience growing up around my grandfather’s place in Michigan.
My experience includes working around cattle and horses, feeding, fencing, general ranch maintenance, operating equipment, cleaning and maintaining facilities, and the everyday labor that comes with keeping a ranch running.
I want to be upfront that I’m still developing as a horseman and cowboy. I’m comfortable around horses and have riding experience, but I’m not going to claim to be a finished hand. I want to get better at horseback cattle work, gathering, sorting, doctoring, roping, stockmanship, and horsemanship. Eventually I would also like to learn how to start and train horses.
I’m not afraid to start at the bottom. I’ll fix fence, shovel manure, feed, clean pens, work on equipment, buck hay, work cattle, or do whatever else needs done. I understand that trust and better jobs are earned.
Before getting into ranch work, I spent 10 years in the U.S. Navy and left as an E-6. I know how to show up, work as part of a crew, take direction, and put in long days.
I’m especially interested in a traditional cow-calf, yearling, stocker, or working cattle operation where horses are still used regularly. I’m looking for people who are willing to teach a developing hand who genuinely wants to make a career out of this.
What I’m looking for:
- Full-time, long-term ranch work
- Cattle operation preferred
- Horseback work and opportunity to develop my horsemanship
- Housing preferred
- $2,500–$3,500/month depending on housing, meals, duties, and experience
- Willing to relocate anywhere in the U.S.
- Available to relocate quickly
I have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and no problem working long or irregular hours when the job requires it.
I’m not looking for an easy job. I’m looking for an outfit willing to give me a chance to earn my place, learn from experienced hands, and become useful to the operation.
