My name is Gary L., and I am looking for a job on a working cattle ranch, dude ranch, private recreational/hunting ranch, or resort ranch as a cook, caretaker, and/or property management.
I have over 25 years’ experience as a general contractor, building new homes and home improvements. I am a bricklayer/stone mason by trade but I can do most everything to do with construction, from concrete to framing, to flooring, to finish carpentry. I also have 15 years’ experience as a guide and cook for 2 hunting outfitters in Nebraska and Montana.
I currently own and operate the Pot Luck Café in Hinsdale, Montana, but I am closed and only doing catering at this time. I am a 1 man operation, but able to take care of many people on a daily basis. I am used to long hours, demanding clients, busy schedules with no days off, and bad weather. I am a hardworking get it done no matter what it takes, no excuses kind of guy and I will work for your outfit like I would my own.
There is no job beneath me and there is no job I can’t do or learn to do. I have a little experience with back country cooking also, but most of my experience has been in the lodge. I have some experience working cattle, such as moving, sorting, branding, and shipping, but am willing to do and learn more, such as haying, feeding, and doctoring.
I am very capable of working alone, but able to work with, and manage others as well. I am very much a self-starter and when I see something that needs to be done, I do it. I am very experienced at scheduling, planning, ordering, and purchasing, as well as inventory management and event planning/management.
Willing to Relocate: Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Arizona, New Mexico, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas, and others possibly.
