Hey there! We are a young family of 4 looking for a paid mentorship opportunity in regenerative/organic/sustainable farming. We live in the southeast and are willing to relocate.
Currently, we “farm” at the homestead level and have additional jobs off farm. Our goal is to eventually farm alongside our family daily and to serve the community around us with healthy & sustainable meat/produce.
We dove into this lifestyle about 4 years ago searching for a healthier way of living for our children. We wanted not only the highest quality food but to also teach them where their food comes from and how to be good stewards of the land God has blessed us with. We are a husband and wife that love to work together and have our kids close by learning as we go. Off farm jobs include being a firefighter and nurse. We are also videographers and photographers on the side. Over the past 4 years we’ve raised all of our own chicken and butchered the broilers ourselves. We also have laying hens, ducks and turkeys. Most recently we’ve ventured into Idaho Pasture Pigs and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Our gardening experience is limited with organic practices.
We started out with learning from our grandparents conventional ways of gardening. Over the past 5 or so years we’ve tried transitioning to an organic approach which has come with lots of trial and error. Although, we both grew up as neighborhood kids in town we each had grandparents in the commercial cattle farming realm. We are so thankful for their guidance over the years but we are continuing to find our own journey in a little bit different route. Our goal in this journey would be to gain knowledge and hands on experience in a way of life we feel is important for our children to thrive in. We would be grateful for on site housing or housing we could rent close by the farm with two little ones around. We also have two geriatric dogs (almost 13&14) that would come with us).
Most importantly to us is to follow the path God has for us and to live His plan out. We pray we inspire our kids to do the same and to not be afraid to go for your dreams.
