Lance V.
My name’s Lance. I’m 36 and ready to make a true lifestyle shift. I’m seeking a full-time ranch hand/cow hand job where I can put in honest work, learn from your experienced outfit, and build my life around the ranch. I know how to manage people and run a team but without enough experience in this life, I’d rather apply to be a hand then in the future apply for a ranch managers position. (Grow into that position)
From an occupational standpoint, I don’t have direct ranch work experience. But since I was 5 years old, I’ve worked hunting leases with my father and uncles – everything from clearing roads, fence work, building blinds and feeders, operating ranch vehicles, light cattle work, light hay work, light welding skills, and guiding hunts. So long hours in all types of weather is not an issue.
A lifelong learner has always been a philosophy of mine so I’m easily coachable and have a willingness to learn. My horsemanship skills could be better but I’m no stranger of being in the saddle. I’ve recently picked up roping so currently bettering those skills. (I’d rather under promise and over deliver to you, than the latter.) Physical fitness is another important aspect to my life so lifting heavy and working long manual hours is another non-issue.
Most of all, what matters to me is being able to contribute to a ranch that I can grow with and stick with for the long run. I may not know everything yet, but I’ve got the determination, attitude, and work ethic to get there — and I’d love the chance to show it.
