Jon L.
My name is Jon. I am a single, smoke/vape/drug free, 28-year-old veteran looking for ranch work.
During my time in high school, I spent 4 years in my local FFA chapter. I competed in land judging events and dairy judging competitions including making it to the state level competition, which included evaluating soil properties and agricultural practices and assessing dairy cattle based on conformation and production potential. I also served time on the officer team. I showed swine for 3 years including working rodeos helping handling livestock such as the bulls and steers. I enjoyed the lifestyle, but I had to put that on hold to serve my country. I served 7 years in the United States Army honorably, went to college for a bit but now I am looking to get back into something I loved doing.
My horseback skills are limited, though I am riding every week and I eventually want to compete in team roping. My high school experience includes constructing projects for a few farms using MIG and stick welding, as well as building wooden projects—skills I’ve recently been using in a construction role renovating hotels with tasks such as demolition, framing, and fixture installations but work has run dry for now. As a prior infantryman, I’m no stranger to physical labor, early mornings, and tough conditions; I managed an arms room which housed a company’s worth of weapons, ensured 100% accountability over all my assigned property, and led small teams through demanding tactical operations. I am quick to learn new tasks, whether it’s fence repair, equipment maintenance, horse operations, or daily ranch operations.
Some of my goals include long-term experience in ranching, to compete in team roping, and to save up to buy 20-30 acres of my own. Some of my hobbies include shooting, hiking, and fishing. My faith in God is up most important to me.
If you’re looking for a dependable ranch hand who is a fast learner, please allow me the opportunity so I can prove myself and gain valuable experience. I’m based in San Antonio but open to opportunities across the United States. No criminal record. Have a driver’s license and vehicle. Private housing is needed for my dalmatian and I. Can consider renting local for the right opportunity. Full resume available upon request.
