I have a decade of ranch experience across large and small cow/ calf and yearling operations. I did not grow up on a ranch. Therefore, I started at the bottom fixing fence and have worked my way up to lead off and cow boss positions. I am comfortable in a crew or a leadership role. I can supply my own string of horses, keep them shod and supply several high quality working dogs. I can spot and doctor sick cattle quietly and effectively as well as address calving problems. I have experience making and implementing grazing plans and take great pride in my stock and the stewardship of the ground. I work well in a crew but excel in times lacking direction. I know what an operation needs to run smoothly day to day. Oftentimes the extra 20 minutes of prep work the night before go un-noticed but save an extraordinary amount of time and effort the next day in high stress situations.
I have a small family consisting of my wife and two boys ages 12 and 5. We aim to involve them in agriculture whenever possible. They are certainly not strangers to remote cowcamps or long days in the saddle. We are looking for more than just another ranch to set up camp. We are looking for a culture and community with like minded individuals in a place we are proud to call home. Any operation that allows some personal cattle would be a great incentive for us. We are wiling to relocate to most western states for the right opportunity. (Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, Nebraska)
I am comfortable in most machinery found on a ranch. I have experience in haying equipment skid-steers backhoes and more. I do not weld but can handle small repairs and routine maintenance.
