Yellow Springs Provisions – Yellow Springs, Ohio

Yellow Springs Provisions (YSP) is a new regenerative livestock operation operated on 200 acres in Greene County, Ohio producing grass-fed, grass-finished beef, pastured poultry, lamb, and other pasture-raised products.

We are building a premium, direct-to-consumer meat business designed for long-term stability, disciplined growth, and land stewardship. Our production is led by an experienced rancher. We are now seeking a business operator to help design and manage all non-farming aspects of the enterprise.

  • This is a fractional leadership role responsible for building the business infrastructure that supports production.
  • This is not a marketing position.
  • This is not a farming position.
  • This is a systems, finance, and operations leadership role.

Responsibilities

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Supervise part-time bookkeeper and payroll
  • Ensure timely, accurate monthly financial reporting
  • Develop SKU-level margin visibility
  • Build and maintain annual budgets and forecasts
  • Track KPIs and deliver concise owner reporting

Inventory & Production Coordination

  • Build a 12-month rolling slaughter and sales calendar
  • Align processing schedules with demand planning
  • Design inventory tracking systems
  • Reduce volatility and over/under-supply risk

Revenue Systems

  • Develop structured sales plans
  • Implement subscription and pre-sale programs
  • Monitor retention, pricing discipline, and sell-through
  • Ensure revenue growth aligns with production capacity

Vendor & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee external vendors (website, marketing, branding)
  • Manage processors and key suppliers
  • Supervise construction and capital improvement projects
  • Evaluate ROI on infrastructure investments

eCommerce & Retail Oversight

  • Oversee Shopify / POS systems
  • Ensure inventory integration and fulfillment workflows
  • Plan for potential farm store operations

Livestock production and grazing management remain under separate leadership.


Ideal Background

  • 8+ years experience in operations, general management, or COO-type roles
  • Experience in inventory-driven businesses (food, manufacturing, distribution, CPG preferred)
  • Strong financial literacy and comfort with P&L management
  • Proven ability to build systems in small, growing businesses
  • Calm, structured, low-ego leadership style
  • Interest in long-term, values-driven enterprise building
