Private Ranch
Our patriarch is 88 and has been in agriculture all his life. His wife will be leaving the ranch to live in town, and we’re looking for someone to live at the ranch as a caregiver/companion and caretaker, full time. Our rancher’s wife will remain in place as the ranch manager and she’ll be visiting the ranch every other day. This is a 300 acre ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Gilroy, California. It will mean a lot of down time spent in solitude in beautiful surroundings as our rancher is out of the house most of the day.
Domestic/caregiving work includes helping our rancher get dressed (arthritic hands make it hard for hin to do himself) dispensing medications to rancher from a pre-filled pillbox twice a day (prepared by an outside resource), checking on rancher while outdoors for fall risk, all errands, light housekeeping, normal maintenance of owner’s house and landscape. Companionship needed mostly early morning, late afternoon, and into the evening as this rancher is out most of the day with his friends working on the ranch. All training will be paid for by Rancher’s family if training is needed in first aid and in how to provide care to an aging senior citizen. Help is needed with all shopping, all cooking and all housekeeping.
Agricultural skills, and good mechanical knowledge are a plus. Agricultural work that this rancher does is the maintenance of his shop, ranch roads, fences, water, irrigation, equipment maintenance and repair, safety and security of ranch, and purchasing of ranch supplies. Experience with tractor a plus.
Must have valid driver’s licenses, clean driving record, no criminal record or outstanding warrants, must be non-smoker and drug free. Clean neat and organized.
Will live with rancher in a 3,000 sq. ft. house on property, drive ranch trucks, and receive a salary.
