Ranch Manager & Property Caretaker Couple needed (Housing Included)

We are seeking a responsible, experienced couple to live and work on a 170-acre private family ranch in Northern Santa Barbara County (45 minutes from Santa Barbara / 30 minutes from Santa Maria / 15 minutes from the beach). This is a year-round, long-term position with on-site housing included. The ideal candidates are hands-on, self-directed, and experienced with both ranch operations and hospitality property care.

Primary Responsibilities

Ranch Operations (Full-Time):

  • Irrigation, fencing, equipment use, land and facility maintenance
  • Tractor and ranch machinery operation and upkeep
  • Daily animal care (currently horses and chickens) — equine experience required
  • General property improvement, seasonal projects, and preventative maintenance
  • Liaison with outside vendors, contractors, and event coordinators when applicable

Property & Guest Care (Part-Time / Hospitality):

  • Turnover and cleaning of guest rental units
  • Light landscaping, gardening, orchard upkeep
  • Preparing property for occasional weddings, photo shoots, and retreats (not running events — only readiness & liaison)

Structure & Schedule

  • Year-round position with seasonal rhythm
  • – Spring / Summer: more land and ranch work
  • – Summer / Fall: more guest turnover and event preparation
  • – Winter: fewer guests, but ongoing maintenance and project work
  • Housing provided: Tiny home on property, best suited for 1–2 adults only
  • All utilities included (water, heat, satellite internet)
  • Use of ranch vehicle for on-property work
  • Compensation starts at $25/hr DOE

Ideal Candidates

  • Experienced couple strongly preferred — able to divide operations and hospitality tasks
  • Prior ranch, farm, or agricultural experience required
  • Confident with horses; equine handling experience is important
  • Reliable, capable, discreet, and able to work independently without supervision
  • Comfortable with rural living and long-term commitment
  • Future equine or small cattle program expansion possible for the right candidate (not required)
