Position: Experienced Ranch Couple / Possible Ranch Manager
Location: Southwestern Montana, near Yellowstone National Park
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced, dedicated Ranch Couple or Ranch Manager to oversee daily operations at a private mountain ranch, including staff supervision, guest services, maintenance, upkeep, and financial management. The property offers summer horseback riding, winter snowmobiling, fishing along more than a mile of river, ponds, and creeks, and other recreational activities. The ideal candidate or couple will be comfortable living year-round in a remote Montana wilderness setting and will manage seasonal staff, maintain facilities and grounds, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management:
- Oversee all ranch operations, including the maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Support property construction logistics, provide progress photos, and maintain a clean worksite.
- Ensure guest and staff safety during all ranch activities.
- Plan and implement seasonal guest programs, including horseback riding, fishing, and snowmobiling.
- Manage and protect wildlife and fish habitats, ensuring effective conservation practices.
- Staff Management:
- Build a positive work environment and ensure staff are prepared to provide excellent guest service.
- Hire, train, and supervise a seasonal team of approximately 3 staff members.
- Assign and manage workloads appropriately.
- Guest Services:
- Deliver exceptional hospitality by anticipating guest needs and creating memorable experiences.
- Coordinate and lead guided activities, such as horseback riding and fishing excursions.
- Maintenance and Upkeep:
- Maintain cabins, common areas, and outdoor facilities.
- Manage ranch inventory and supplies, including equipment and recreational gear.
- Financial Management:
- Support budgeting and financial planning for ranch operations.
- Track expenses and promote cost-effective use of resources.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in ranch management, hospitality, or a related field preferably in a remote mountain setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Ability to manage a diverse team and have strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in outdoor recreational activities, particularly horseback riding and fishing.
- Knowledge and well-rounded skills of maintenance and repair of ranch facilities and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset.
- Prior work experience in similar ranch facilities with approximately 7 buildings and with 100+ acres.
- Honest, reliable, and drug-free.
