Position Summary:
We are a medium sized family owned and operated cow calf operation. We raise Gelbvieh Balancers. Our heard is about half registered and half commercial. Currently, we have about 300 pairs. After our fall and spring calving seasons, we retain our heifers to continue building our herd to the goal of 600. We use our commercial steers for our direct-to-table beef business, and either retain or sell our registered bulls for breeding. In the coming years, we intend to start our own on the farm bull and heifer sales, in conjunction with opening a wedding venue. In order to accomplish this, the farm we operate, which is about 100 years old, is in need of some modernization in order to make it fit our desired premium image.
With the expansion of the herd as well as future growth ambitions, we are adding a second position to the operation. This position will be a pivotal role in our operation. This position will be tasked with a lot of responsibility and trust to work unsupervised most of the time. This role demands a determined professional with a meticulous nature, driven by detail to ensure that every aspect of farm is well maintained. Please apply if you are someone who places importance on getting details correct, enjoys working hard, and is a calm levelheaded individual wanting to put down long-term roots.
This position is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of our 300 head cow-calf herd/ growing to 600 head, equipment repairs, general farm repair and improvements. The ideal candidate will have proficient experience in all aspects of cattle health, intermediate proficiency in mechanical repairs, skilled in the ability to operate heavy machinery such as bulldozer and excavators as well as proficient in stick welding, carpentry, and overall understanding of farming aspects.
This is a salary position, and as such, this is not a 8 to 5 job. Salary is negotiable depending on experience.
