About our farm

Our farm is a growing diversified livestock and agritourism farm specializing in Full Blood Wagyu cattle, Mangalitsa pigs, Berkshire pigs, farm events, retail meat sales, lodging, and direct-to-consumer agriculture. We are looking for a highly motivated Farm Manager to help oversee daily operations, improve efficiency, expand our livestock programs, and help scale the farm for future growth.

Position Summary

The Farm Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of livestock, farm infrastructure, employees, breeding programs, and overall farm operations. This role requires someone who is hands-on, organized, self-motivated, and capable of solving problems independently. The ideal candidate has experience with cattle, particularly Wagyu genetics and production, and understands breeding programs, herd management, and livestock nutrition.

Responsibilities

Livestock Management

  • Oversee the care and management of Full Blood Wagyu cattle, Mangalitsa pigs, and Berkshire pigs.
  • Monitor animal health, body condition, feed intake, and overall performance.
  • Develop and maintain breeding, calving, farrowing, and weaning schedules.
  • Track weights, growth rates, genetics, and production records.
  • Work with veterinarians, nutritionists, and breeding specialists as needed.
  • Assist in developing and expanding a high-quality Wagyu breeding program.
  • Experience with Artificial Insemination (AI) and reproductive management is highly preferred.

Farm Operations

  • Ensure daily farm operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Manage feeding schedules, pasture rotations, fencing, water systems, and equipment.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the farm.
  • Coordinate livestock movements, transportation, and processing schedules.
  • Identify operational improvements to increase productivity and profitability.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Supervise and assist farm employees.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure work is completed efficiently.
  • Provide training and support to staff when needed.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.

Maintenance & Problem Solving

  • Troubleshoot and repair common farm equipment and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain tractors, trailers, fencing, gates, water systems, barns, and facilities.
  • Respond quickly to unexpected problems and emergencies.
  • Be comfortable handling the daily challenges that come with a working farm.

Planning & Growth

  • Help develop systems and processes that allow the farm to scale.
  • Assist ownership in setting production goals and breeding objectives.
  • Analyze herd performance and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve genetics, efficiency, and profitability.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of farm or ranch management experience preferred.
  • Strong experience with cattle management; Wagyu experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with breeding programs, genetics, and herd record keeping.
  • Knowledge of Artificial Insemination (AI), embryo transfer, or reproductive management is a plus.
  • Experience managing pigs, especially Mangalitsa or Berkshire breeds, is preferred.
  • Ability to operate tractors, skid steers, trailers, and farm equipment safely.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions without constant supervision.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50+ pounds and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
