Job Purpose
The Farm Manager Position will report to the GM and support the production of 16,000 acres of pivot, flood, and dry land near Augusta, MT.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the GM with all activities and processes related to farm management including:
• Establishment of annual farm plans
• Creating capital budgets and closely monitoring costs
• Coordinating daily activities of personnel and equipment
• Scheduling plantings, irrigation, fertilizing , and harvesting
• Employee supervision and assisting with the hiring process
• Maintaining effective communication with farm staff
• Operating and overseeing the maintenance of large farm machinery and pivots
• Working with vendors and external organizations as needed
• Managing pricing and delivery of materials necessary for operation
• Staying abreast of current industry practices and trends
Requirements
• Five years experience in farm or ranch management
• Thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical maintenance of pivots
• Strong computer background with ability to create and update spreadsheets
• Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently
• Degree in agriculture, plant science, Ag business, agronomy or related field
• Hold a valid driver’s license
