ISO RANCH/FEEDLOT HAND
Looking for a full time ranch/feedlot hand. We are located in Yellowhead county, Alberta.
We are seeking a dedicated individual as this job involves pen checking, responsibilities for the daily care and management of livestock, maintenance of facilities and equipment , and general farm operations. This role involves hands-on physical work in outdoor conditions and requires a strong work ethic, reliability, mechanical aptitude, and comfort working with animals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with processing cattle (sorting, moving, vaccinating, branding)
- Operate farm equipment such as tractors, loaders, and feed trucks
- Clean and maintaining pens, barns, water systems, and feeding equipment
- Repair and maintain fences, gates, and other infrastructure
- Assist with calving
perform general maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, machinery, and tools using hand tools and power tools - Check water bowls to ensure proper water distribution across the farm
- Support livestock care including checking pens, feeding, watering, and health monitoring
- Conduct mowing, and other horticultural tasks to manage pasture health and landscape appearance
- Assist with planting, harvesting, and other crop-related activities as needed
- Perform heavy lifting of supplies when needed
Requirements:
- Experience with livestock and pen checking
experience with farm machinery, heavy equipment operation - Class 1 and 3 is not required but would be helpful
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with maintenance of farm tools and equipment is highly desirable
- Ability to operate power tools
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and performing manual labor in outdoor conditions
- Knowledge of water bowl systems is a asset
- Ability to work independently
- Valid driver’s license
Wage will be depend on experience and living conditions can be discussed.
