Ranch Foreman wanted for a progressive ranch near Cherhill, Alberta.
Meunier Livestock Ltd is a large, diversified, family run organization with feedlot, cropping, and cow/calf enterprises and a direct to consumer meat business located near Barrhead, AB. We are seeking an independent, hardworking individual to become the Ranch Foreman for our ranching division near Cherhill, AB. Looking for a person who enjoys working outside with cattle on intensively managed ranch land. The Ranch Foreman will be a forward thinking self-starter who is open to new ideas and willing to work in all areas of the ranch.
This is not a cowboy position but there is an opportunity for work on horseback.
Duties of the Ranch Foreman:
- Management of intensive summer and winter grazing operation for cow/calf and yearlings
- Pasture calving 1200+ cows
- Herd health care
- Maintenance and construction of fence
- Operation and implementation of water pipelines
- Unloading and placing hay for winter bale grazing
- Movement and maintenance of portable water and fence systems
- Record keeping related to grazing and health of animals
- Supervision of seasonal staff
- Operation and maintenance of farm equipment
- Assist in all areas of the operation as needed depending on the season
Competencies of the Ranch Foreman:
- Prior experience in ranching/farming
- Ability to live and work independently in a remote rural setting
- Familiarity with livestock and farm machinery
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry
- Strong initiative, communication, adaptability and problem solving skills
- Be a community builder, able to work in diversity
Requirements:
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Ability to work long and flexible hours
- Valid class 5 drivers license with own transportation
- Criminal record check required
Wages dependent on experience. Housing available. Medical benefits provided after three month probation period. Opportunities for learning and personal development encouraged.
