I am looking for a long term full-time ranch hand/caretaker in Fredericksburg TX, with a horse focus.

Duties include:

  • Daily feeding, grooming and handling of 4+ horses.
  • Working with vet and farrier on horse care.
  • Ideally a background training horses as we have a colt and from time to time I rehab horses.
  • Must be able to ride.
  • Daily ranch chores…currently 25 acres over two properties newly acquired that haven’t been maintained.
  • Trimming/cutting down dead trees
  • Removing old fencing and animal structures.
  • Building new fences and maintaining improvements already done.
  • Pasture/land management including spraying weeds, seeding, moving animals for rotational grazing, cutting grass.
  • General handyman work around the property and main house with occasional jobs at a rental property including lawn mowing and yard maintenance.
  • Taking care of dogs while I am traveling.

No dogs allowed as there are 4 dogs on the property in addition to the horses.  We also have chickens that will need looking after.

You can bring your own horse.  Currently no housing as we are building on the ranch, but long term that will change. Can help find housing close by.
