HJ Ranch
We are fifth generation beef producers. Small family owned and operated. We birth about 500 black angus cross from Feb-April and then run on home pastures in the shrub step until June. In mid June we push up to the big evergreen forests of the PNW. Our summer range is 5,000ish feet elevation. We use horses and dogs to move cows as well as ATVs to scout and put out mineral. It’s close to home so you’re back every night.
Everything, including summer range, is put together within a 30 minute commute from the base ranch. Most of our pastures are drift out / drift in scenarios.
So we open gates, salt, push horseback a few days later.
Spring fencing. 4 strand barbed wire with our crew.
We put up feeder hay and have pivot systems and wheel lines back at the home place during summer. Hay farming is a big part of the job. We have John Deere tractors with cabs so you’re not out in the heat.
In the fall we wean calves for 45+ days and then sell them. We feed the cows all winter long. We feed 1200 pound round bales with the tractors (rolled out on the ground) as well as a big tub mixer for chopped feed. Feeding goes November – April so that is also a big part of the job.
There’s a great 3 bed / 2 bath house with all utilities provided. Beef provided. Wages DOE.
We are looking for someone with farming / ranching experience. You don’t need to be able to ride a horse but it’s great if you can! Thanks for your interest!
