Rio Blanco Ranch is a 600+ acre private ranch located in the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado. It sits in a high mountain valley at 8200’. It is a combination of forested land, irrigated hay fields and pastures surrounded by 12,000’ + peaks and it bordered on two side a by National Forest and National Wilderness area. It has two rivers that flow through it as well as three lakes.

It is owned by a family that uses it as a second home, and is a working ranch to maintain its beauty, and the health of the land. Experience is not required but ranch related knowledge and experience will be given preference in hiring. The job consists of fencing, flood irrigation, pasture maintenance, extensive forestry care, horse and cattle care, building maintenance, equipment maintenance, road maintenance, and many other tasks that are required on a large high mountain ranch. We provide housing in a recently constructed bunkhouse, but do not have on ranch housing for females.

Ideally we are looking for individuals who are highly motivated to learn and gain experience doing ranch work and all that goes along with it. Preferably who are able to do heavy labor if necessary. We provide a safe and healthy work environment.

We are located 25 miles from the nearest town where most basic needs can be met. We have a robust summer rodeo circuit in Pagosa Springs, and in other nearby towns if that is of interest. Minimum seasonal work time is June-August, and Maximum is April-November. You will be required to pass a background check, and provide character references.
