Seeking experienced ranch hand for long-term employment at family owned cattle ranch with 100+ cattle, near Riggins, Idaho.
Acceptance of position comes with fully furnished home, large garden, fenced yard, chicken coop, $1,200 salary per month, and food provided. Clothing allowance can be negotiated for boots and cold weather gear. Spouse welcome – there are employment opportunities at local RV park and in Riggins, potential of owners hiring for cleaning and landscaping at their property in town.
Carlson Livestock sits on river front property on the Big Salmon River, which boasts appropriate weather for all four seasons, including sunshine, green grass, fall colors, and snow in the winter. Summertime recreation available at your fingertips. This country is very mountainous, with minimal flatlands, so nerves of steel and gall are a must. Bountiful location for all types of hunting and trapping.
Responsibilities vary, but could include building and fixing fence, breaking ice on water troughs, irrigating pastures, ability to run heavy equipment (hay truck, semi, tractor, etc.), feed cows, move cows, and perform maintenance on equipment.
Ranch hand will have access to all necessary equipment for work, including 4-wheeler, side-by-side, 4×4 vehicle, chainsaws, full maintenance shop, etc.
The ranch hand must be reliable, self-motivated, respectful, and have the knowledge and compassion to work with animals. The owners are elderly, so a self-starter is mandatory. Drinking to excess and/or drugs will not be tolerated.
