Ranch Hand will oversee and maintain the land, fences, structures, equipment, and wildlife while coordinating with owners regularly. On-site housing may be provided. Looking for a long-term person who can eventually manage a hunting operation.
Responsibilities:
- Regular inspection, repair, and construction of fences.
- Maintain ranch infrastructure such as roads, housing, barn, deer blinds, buildings, and ponds.
- Maintain ranch equipment including vehicles, tractors, backhoe, skid steer and feeders.
- Property cleanup including regular cleaning of lodgings, barn, vehicle, and equipment.
- Build bridges, structures and blinds as needed.
- Pasture and lawn mowing and planting, including food plots.
- Tree clearing.
- Ensure all feeders are properly filled and operational.
- Guide and supervise deer hunts, hog hunts, duck hunts, and alligator hunts.
- Clean, cape, and quarter wildlife for clients.
- Facilitate bird and wildlife watching tours.
- Predator control – Setting and monitoring traps. Possible night predator control with thermal imaging.
- Maintain records for hunting operations.
- Wildlife counts.
- Assist with any ranch activities assigned by ranch owner to aid in the development of wildlife operations.
- Be available for questions, emergencies, etc. especially during hunting season.
Qualifications:
- Be able to start the day early, work according to a schedule and be available to work weekends when necessary.
- Be able to work independently.
- Be able to operate and maintain heavy equipment.
- Be able to communicate and have good working relationships with clients, owners, and others.
- Be able to organize and prioritize tasks and identify what work needs to be done.
- Be able to safely shoot and handle firearms.
