Family run cow-calf operation in Eastern Oregon looking to hire full-time ranch hand.

250 head cow/calf operation is looking for someone to join us. Housing and utilities provided. Satellite TV and internet available at your cost. Family-owned operation with onsite owners. Not an absentee owner situation.

Housing is at headquarters so clean living is a must.

Duties Include:

Working with cattle, including checking cows, calving, vaccinating, tagging, doctoring, moving cattle between pastures, checking water;
Feeding (winter) with tractors;
Loading/unloading hay with tractors;
Ranch maintenance, fencing, basic maintenance on equipment and the ranch and other duties as assigned.
Farrier experience is a plus but not required.
Skills with managing cattle and recognizing health needs is a definite plus.
Must be a self-starter.

Companion pets are negotiable.
Housing available is a 1 bedroom/1 bath framed house. Washer/dryer included. Because of this, it may not be suitable for more than 2 people.
We are 5 miles from a cafe and a feed-store, 35 miles from other restaurants, grocery stores, hospital and movie theater.
Position requires someone with experience working cattle horseback, but we also use ATVs at times. Being able to rope is desirable. We don’t consider this to be a cowboy-only position or a place to train other people’s horses. You are welcome to ride and work with your own horses, however. We are looking for someone who is an all-around stock-person or wants to strive to become that. It is not essential that you are a great cowboy, but it is essential that you are conscientious when it comes to getting jobs done and taking care of cattle.
If you have well behaved horses you can bring them. Prefer no more than four but this is negotiable.
You will need a valid driver’s license.
We have cell service in most areas of the ranch.
We try to work 5 and ½ days a week and make sure there is time off. We generally do not work Sundays, other than rotated feeding responsibilities (4 months/yr) and emergencies.
We do offer bonuses for good performance and longevity.
Running a few cattle with us to supplement your income is a possibility.
