Seeking Ranch Hand for large, historic ranch outside of Balmorhea, TX.
Our goals focus on land conservation, range stewardship, and infrastructure improvements.
We strive to make the ranch a better place in everything we do.
Ranch tasks are diverse including plumbing and water system maintenance, welding, equipment operation, construction projects, general repairs, brush control, preventative maintenance on ranch facilities and equipment, livestock care, etc.
Ranch facilities, grounds, and equipment are kept clean, organized, and maintained to the highest level at all times. We are heavily focused on capital improvements and continued upgrade of ranch infrastructure. Attention to details and aesthetics are paramount.
Tradition is held in high esteem, but we are always looking for new and more efficient ways.
Status quo and old paradigms do not apply here. New ideas and perspective are are appreciated. We get to do exciting projects and see them through to completion.
Ideal candidate should have good communication skills and be a self starter. The day to day will never be the same. You must be able to assess priority projects and work solo, but also pivot to teamwork as required. Ranch hand works under Ranch Manager who also lives on site.
The ranch is a remarkably beautiful and interesting place to live and work, but a strong commitment to rural and ranch living, and all that goes with it, is a must. Towns and services are not next door – be prepared for the time and resources it takes to make that work.
We work hands on all day, every day and you must be in good physical shape and be able to work outdoors in all weather. There could be an opportunity for internal promotion based on your attitude, performance, and time served. Some travel to other area ranches under the same ownership may be required. Possible work for spouse on-site depending on their interest and ability.
