Ravenswood Ranch
This is a privately owned training facility for carriage driving and working equitation. We are seeking a Ranch Hand with experience working with large horses of mixed breeds. The role includes maintaining clean, safe stalls and facilities, supporting daily horse care, and working 5 days from 9am till 6pm (with an hour lunch) under the direction of the ranch manager and property owner.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for working ranch horses.
- Muck stalls and maintain clean, safe horse areas.
- Horse grooming, hoof check, and general of the animals condition.
- Turn horses out according to the ranch’s schedule.
- Helping with tacking and harnessing the horses as required.
- Ensure horses have clean, fresh water.
- Prepare and distribute feed.
- Inspect fences and report maintenance needs.
- Perform barn maintenance and general facility upkeep.
- Operating the ranch Gators safely.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of horse care experience.
- Experience handling mixed breeds and horses with varied uses.
- Knowledge of equine handling, feeding, and stall mucking.
- Physical stamina for loading and unloading heavy bags of shavings, hay, and hard feed.
- Attention to detail and commitment to animal safety.
- Experience harrowing arenas.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate and articulate clearly.
Additional Information:
No paid holidays.
Training (such as harnessing a horse for carriage driving, harrowing, feed preparation) will be given to the right candidate, if required.
Employees will not be required to ride, drive, or train the ranch horses.
Salary is paid weekly in cash.
There is NO living accommodation provided with this job.
