Circle C Ranch
Circle C Ranch – Rand, still affectionately referred to as Whistling Elk Ranch by all, is a family-owned private guest ranch for friends and family. We typically have guests or owners at the ranch a few times a month. We are located in the NorthPark valley of Colorado just a few miles outside of the heart of Rand, Colorado. We sit on approximately 3,500 acres at 8,600-9,600 feet elevation. We are 30 minutes from the town of Walden, 1 hour north of Granby, 1 hour east of Steamboat Springs and 3 hours from Denver.
Job Description
This position will require a multi-faceted skill set to be successful. This is a job about taking care of horses and people as well as taking pride in ranch work. The position calls for a thoughtful, engaging, hardworking individual that has a true love and appreciation for the ranch lifestyle, while living and working day to day in a REMOTE location. Some days will be long hours and will be physically and mentally demanding. This is a special property with much to care for and even more to enjoy. We have a small team of people so being a team player and willing to pitch in and do what is needed for the betterment of the ranch and its guest is essential.
This position reports to the Ranch Manager.
Job Responsibilities
• Assist Ranch Manager with daily and weekly tasks/projects
• Operate tractors, skid loader and other equipment
• Cut firewood, trail maintenance, fence upkeep, general maintenance
• Assist with seasonal projects (structure maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, etc.)
• Maintain horse facilities and equipment
• Exercise/ride horses regularly
• Oversee trail rides with guests and all horse related activities
• Assess guest riding abilities/interests and tailor rides accordingly
• Plan and maintain safety standards for all guests and horses at all times
• Be available for long days
• Be available for guest activities during their stay
• Provide clean ATVs, Mules and other vehicles for guest use
Job Requirements
• Ranching experience
• Good critical thinking skills
• Need to be flexible, outgoing, willing to do, willing to learn, and always do your best the first time
• Excellent horsemanship skills with an easy and gentle approach
• Experienced in health of horses and the care of sick and injured animals
• Experienced in teaching basic horsemanship skills, coaching riders
• Comfortable conversing with guests on the trail and around the ranch
• Good communication skills with guests and management
• Comfortable operating, or willing to learn how to operate, machinery and equipment
• Coachable and open to other ways
Compensation:
Furnished 1 bed room apartment with satellite internet
$30,000 a year with benefits for full time employment or $15 dollars an hour for seasonal help
