West Texas Cattle and Hunting Ranch is looking for a ranch hand that is a self-starter with a positive attitude. The ranch is 45 miles from basic services, but in two school districts with bus routes to ranch. The ranch is run for corporate guest hunting, kids camp during the summer and a cow/calf operation with a focus on replacement heifers for other company ranches. This is a full-time permanent position that offers Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, 401k, paid vacation and a modern 3 bedroom/ 2 bath home with electricity and water provided.

This position is for a ranch hand, not a cowboy. Some of the duties will include but are not limited to the following.
-Working and checking cattle horseback, on ATV, or on foot
-Putting out liquid feed, mineral and salt for cattle
-Working with horses and assisting guest riders
-Cleaning horse stalls
-Working in Whitetail deer breeding facility
-Placing hunters in blinds and some guiding
-Skinning and processing game
-Filling, repairing, maintaining game feeders
-Maintaining, cleaning, and repair of blinds
-Repairing, clearing, and building fences
-Mowing and maintaining lawns
-Working on windmills, submersible pumps, and solar pumps
-Repair and installation of water troughs and pipelines
-Repair of corrals and chutes
-Basic welding
-Equipment and vehicle maintenance
-Operating tractors and heavy equipment
-Operating 16 ton bobtail feed truck (CDL is a plus but not required)
-Operating pivot irrigation
-Cleaning ranch truck inside and out weekly
-Maintaining ranch housing and informing Forman of any maintenance or repair issues

Must pass a back-ground check, maintain a driver’s licenses, and be able to write and speak English. Being able to speak Spanish is a plus but not required.

No indoor pets and only two dogs or cats. Two broke geldings are allowed per employee and are maintained at ranches expense. Ranch employees only hunt at the end of the season after all guests groups are done for the season, cull management, and meat.

We are open to people with all levels of experience and are willing to train anyone that is capable of accomplishing the job. We work long hours 6 days a week. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and doesn’t cut corners. This ranch has a lot going on at all times and would be great experience for a young person wanting to learn. There is always room for advancement within the ranch or one of our other ranches. We also have part time work for spouse.
