
Carpe Diem Ranch
Under the general supervision of the Owner, Ranch Hand is responsible for watering, feeding, cleaning stalls, and overseeing various horses, and providing routine grounds keeping services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Feed ranch animals as outlined. Ensure horses receive appropriate hay, supplements, and medications as outlined by Owner.
- Move horses between paddocks, pastures, and barn as outlined by Owner.
- Utilize EuroXciser, Equivibe, Solariums, and other on-site modalities as outlined by Owner.
- Willing to work at least Saturday or Sunday, or both.
- Clean stalls, pens, paddocks, and shelters daily.
- Clean all water buckets/troughs and feeders as necessary to ensure animals (horses and chickens) have clean safe drinking water and feed at all times.
- Maintain clean, clear, barn aisle, feed room and hay storage areas.
- Load hay and feed pasture horses daily or as outlined by Owner.
- Clean chicken coops weekly.
- Keep barns and stalls clean of cobwebs and other debris.
- Mow and weed-whack paddocks and pastures and main property areas as necessary.
- Ensure sprinklers are working properly and repair as necessary.
- Maintain weed control in and around barns, outbuildings, paddocks, pens, and fences, both through manual removal, weedeater, mowing, or spraying. Any chemicals to be used must be approved by Owner.
- Seasonal pasture mowing in order to control foxtail and other noxious weeds.
- Repair fences around property as necessary.
- Conduct emergency fence repair, water line repairs and other miscellaneous minor facility repairs as needed.
- Able to safely operate/drive tractors, mowers and other ranch equipment.
- Able to perform routine service, and cleaning maintenance of tractors, UTV’s and other equipment.
- Able to safely use ranch tools and equipment.
- Regular and predicable attendance is required.
- Ability to get along with and work effectively with others.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to lift and move hay bales, feed bags, panels, and other heavy objects safely into utility vehicles, trailers and feed bins both by hand and with appropriate equipment.
- Able to stand, bend, crouch and kneel for extended periods of time.
- Provide humane pest control in the forms of sprays and manual removal of nests (birds, rodents and stinging insects) and manure (flies).
- Occasional removal of tree limbs and other pasture debris.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
