As a successful small family-owned start-up, we are more-than-doubling our size and need an individual to work under our guidance and supervision to eventually take over the management of our operation. Though experience handling farm animals and doing general ranch and land work would be preferred, these are not required qualifications as we are willing to provide on-the-job training for the right candidate. However, experience doing daily heavy manual outdoor work such as building fence and laying pipe in the extreme hot/cold Hill Country weather or equivalent is required.

Please do not apply if you are not already local, as you must be able to pass a 3 month probationary period prior to being hired full time.

The animals we raise are iberian pigs; a traditional breed of the domestic pig native to the Iberian Peninsula first brought to America recently – in the summer of 2014. The pigs are raised free-range their entire lives and sold for high-end meat production. Spaniards and “foodies” consider special cuts of this meat a delicacy rivaling caviar and truffles. For more information on these pigs and their meat, follow these links:

Our expectation is that the person who we hire will be ready to manage the ranch within two years: i.e., work independently (able to self-manage and prioritize the animal and farm responsibilities described below) and be proactive (have a vision for improvements and propose projects to the owners).

This will be a full-time job once the candidate satisfactorily completes a three month probationary period that will begin part time.
