Overview
The Ranch & Hunting Camp Manager will oversee all operations of a 6,500-acre low fence working cattle and hunting ranch in Kenedy County bordering the King Ranch Encino Division as well as an adjacent 11,000-acre recreational hunting lease on the Santa Fe East Ranch. This role includes managing wildlife and habitat, facilities, guest services, food and cleaning, and seasonal hunting operations along with oversight of the cattle grazing lease operator. The ideal candidate is a skilled manager with an eye for detail with strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities that has years of experience in the outdoors and ideally in South Texas. This position will report directly to the ranch owner and his wife.
Key Responsibilities
Guest & Member Services
- Coordinate all reservation schedules, including hunting and lodging.
- Manage guest arrivals, lodging assignments, and meal coordination.
- Serve as primary liaison for hunters and guests during hunting seasons.
Hunting Operations
- Organize and assign guides and hunting locations for deer, quail, turkey, nilgai, and other game.
- Maintain accurate harvest records and game logs.
- Personally guide hunts when needed and recruit qualified guides.
Wildlife & Land Management
- Implement game management practices: winter plowing, controlled burns, brush control, quail and deer feeding programs.
- Maintain and monitor game cameras and logs.
- Oversee protein and broadcast feeder programs.
Cattle Ranch Operations
- Meet with the cattle grazing lease operator to ensure quail habitat improvement in desired areas and that cattle are not causing damage to any habitat or structures.
Facility & Equipment Oversight
- Manage maintenance and repairs of all ranch facilities, hunting camp structures, guest accommodations, equipment, and vehicles.
- Oversee cleaning of owner and guest accommodations and living areas and the maintenance and care for yard and landscaping around camp.
- Maintain all vehicles, tractors, RTVs, road feeders, and hunting equipment.
- Coordinate contractors for repairs, construction, fencing, and pasture improvements.
Administrative & Financial Duties
- Track and report all ranch and camp expenses to owner’s Houston office.
- Prepare purchase orders and manage accounts.
- Hire and fire supporting ranch and hunting staff in conjunction with owner’s input.
- Establish new and/or follow established Standard Operating Procedures.
- Maintain detailed records of work logs, harvests, and operational reports.
- Provide regular updates and reports to ranch ownership.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and hospitality skills.
- Proficiency in computer software for scheduling, record-keeping, and reporting.
- Experience operating tractors and ranch equipment.
- Proven hunting and fishing expertise.
- Knowledge of cattle ranching and wildlife management practices.
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Fluent in Spanish.
- Very detailed oriented.
- Married couples strongly considered.
Position Benefits

- Salary Range between $65,000 to $95,000. Offered salary will be based on total skill set and experience level.
- Annual Bonus typical of this position.
- Work Truck for ranch related activities on and off the ranch provided.
Note: This is not a commercial hunting operation. Just family and friends of the owner.
