RANCH LABORER & BARN ASSISTANT

The Role

A private family ranch north of Tulsa is hiring a dependable, self-motivated Ranch Laborer to join a small team. This position is approximately 30% cleaning, 50% ranch and infrastructure maintenance, and 20% horse care. This is not a riding or cowboy position. You’ll often work independently, report to the on-site Ranch Manager and Barn Manager, and must communicate reliably and follow shifting priorities. Motivated team members will have opportunities to operate construction equipment, assist with prescribed burns, and apply herbicides for weed control.

Responsibilities

Ranch & Property Maintenance

Trail clearing and upkeep (several miles of trails)
Noxious weed control, brush management, mowing, and fence and pond maintenance
Equipment upkeep and minor repairs
Building maintenance: gutters, HVAC filters, lighting, and general repairs
Cleaning of bathrooms, common areas, and trash and pest management

Horse & Barn Care (relief coverage for Barn Manager)

Daily feeding, watering, and wellness checks for horses and donkeys
Stall cleaning, turnout, blanketing, fly masks, bathing, and grooming
Pasture management and general barn upkeep

Requirements

Significant hands-on horse experience required; must be confident handling young, green, or reactive horses
Ability to recognize injury, illness, and spoiled feed; understanding of basic safety practices around horses
Comfortable with power tools, chainsaws, and hand tools; tractor/farm equipment experience a plus
Physically capable of demanding outdoor work in Oklahoma heat and cold; able to lift 60 lbs
18+ with valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Clean background check and drug screening required
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
