Managerial and hands-on role for a family farm in Ashland, Nebraska. Responsible for working directly with supervisor to plan and execute overall management of property and animals. Must be able to work independently, anticipate needs, work well with others, and prioritize effectively.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete oversight of properly maintaining pastures, equipment, and animals
- Act as the point of contact
- Overall care and feeding of horses, donkeys, goats, llamas, zebras, pigs, and birds.
- Prepare realistic weekly and monthly plans and conduct regular walk throughs and maintenance checks
- When necessary, schedule, supervise appointments
ANIMALS
- Responsible for the general care and feeding of 7 horses, 2 donkeys, 2 zebras, 3 pigs, an armadillo, 8 goats, 2 lamas, and a bird
- Monitor health, address issues, maintain de-worming and other care schedules, work with vet and farrier as needed
- Keep detailed records for all animals
- Ensure protection in weather conditions
OTHER
- Barn maintenance and cleanliness
- Be available for emergency calls
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a similar role
- Able to work outdoors year-round
- Riding experience preferred, but not required
