We are looking for a hardworking and hands on Manager / Caretaker for our 2,000 acre family recreational and hunting ranch in Napa County, California.

Compensation:
This live in position (on the ranch) comes with the use of a fully furnished caretakers cottage that overlooks beautiful Lake Berryessa, a base salary (based on experience/desired work schedule), use of company vehicle and full benefits for full time position (health insurance, sick time and vacation time). This job can be full or part time based on the mutually agreed upon work schedule and job duties / tasks.

Job description:
Duties include grounds keeping, water system management, irrigation, fence and road maintenance, equipment upkeep, building maintenance and projects, pond upkeep, pool care, light construction, painting, game management, wildlife crop farming on occasion, security, oversight of major projects, buying supplies, managing a budget and other general duties typical of upkeep of this type of property. Management of seasonal cattle program (this is not really a “cattle ranching” job). After each visit/use of the main ranch house and other ranch buildings, you will need to clean and maintain the buildings. Assist on site as needed when owners or guests are visiting the property. Available to work some weekends as needed to help with entertaining guests. Flexible with work schedule as this is not always an 8-5 job.

The perfect candidate(s):
Individual or a couple team with significant experience in similar situation working or managing a rural property. You have expertise in all aspects of ranch management and are able to advise the owner. The owner does not live on site, so you are a hard worker in unsupervised situations and must be able to complete projects and work independently. You have experience operating and maintaining major ranch systems and equipment, some mechanical skills with tools, landscaping, irrigation, general carpentry and construction, fencing and repair, livestock, and housekeeping. You can communicate frequently and clearly with absentee owner on projects and issues and can use a computer for email. Wildlife management and farming experience a plus.

This is a physically demanding job. This is a long term opportunity for a stable person / couple. You must be eligible to work in the United States, have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, no criminal record or outstanding warrants and be drug free. You must provide professional references in order to qualify for this job. We will conduct a background check. Please respond with a resume and contact information.
