Seeking experienced and effective Ranch Manager & Horseman with a positive, can-do attitude, clean bill of health who is loyal, professional and drama-free. You are collaborative and always put our horses and program first. We are looking for a hands-on manger and problem solver. You need to be very comfortable setting priorities to communicate and schedule the vet, vet techs, farrier, deliveries of hay, panels, etc. and supervise those events. You can lift 80 pound hay bales with ease and can work in all weather conditions. Must be a natural horseman who is also willing to muck, feed, and doctor and not afraid to get your hands dirty working outside. Your horsemanship skills will be useful in herd management and moving our (over) 20 horses and possibly exercising. You love to be of service and can work well with others or on your own projects. No known mental health issues or problems with drugs or alcohol. Five years similar experience is required with references. This is a 60+ hour/week full-time position.
Responsibilities include:
- Natural horseman & manager with leadership skills
- Task prioritization and completion
- Mucking and feeding up to 30 horses
- Health checks, grooming, doctoring
- Coordinate and work with vet, vet techs, farrier and trainer
- Manure management
- Herd management
- Field/paddock management & cleanliness
- Irrigation work/maintenance
- Repairing fencing and setting up panels
- Snow plowing/removal
- Maintaining exterior of home/buildings
- Trash removal
- Operating skid steer, lawn mower and driving a trailer
- Open to other odd jobs
- Landscape work, mowing, weeding, some planting, reseeding, fencing, etc.
- Occasional driving guests, escorting people
- Additional natural horsemanship/Liberty equine skills a plus
- Experience handling unhandled horses a plus
- Experience with planting a plus
- Experience with framing, electrical, plumbing all positive
- Must speak English
