Ranch Manager with 10+ years of hot & cold climate husbandry, construction, excavation, equestrian, employment and accounting skills, needed at 3,500-acre Ranch in Wisconsin ~ Housing with 3 bedrooms included ~ $70k-$90k

3,500 Contiguous Acre Ranch, Full-time Operation in the Scenic River Valley of the Driftless Area in South Central Wisconsin (great hunting, fishing, among the bluffs, hills and valleys, with wilderness springs, streams, ponds, forests, and over 60 miles of exclusively maintained trails).

230 Head of Black Angus and growing, 6 quarter horses, etc

Fine 3 Bedroom Housing and Utilities Included, with several barns, corrals, machine sheds, etc.

Education, Training, Experience Requirements [MUST HAVE]

  • 10+ years Ranch Management or a related field experience like Agriculture, Construction, Excavation, Timber, etc.
  • A high school diploma.
  • An associate’s degree or better in animal science or animal husbandry.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring the herds and fences by horseback, ATV, truck, on foot
  • Monitor and plan for rotational grazing land to ensure livestock is properly well fed, with constant access to fresh water
  • Operate tractors and mechanical equipment for planting, harvesting, and distributing winter feed, conducting mechanical repairs a plus
  • Cowboy equestrian and cattle operations skills, including care, feeding, proper horse grooming, good marksmanship for predator control, etc
  • Maintain proper financial, operational, and employee records (data softwares)
  • Remain up to date regarding markets and industry trends
  • Accounting, payroll, budget, and office management, IT skills
  • Maintain fences and buildings
  • Oversee crop leases and logging operations
  • Maintain high standards of animal welfare and genetics (Black Angus)
  • Heavy Equipment skills and excavation experience a huge plus
  • Identify sick animals and determine proper treatment or contact veterinarian
  • Maintain ranch and herd hydraulic chute equipment
  • Oversee and administer veterinarian pregnancy checking, vaccinations, tagging, keep logs and journals current
  • Inventory and oversee transport of livestock to market
  • Hire, train and supervise ranch hands or herdsmen
