We are a growing black Angus cow-calf operation looking for a no-nonsense, high-drive ranch manager who can take complete ownership of the place and run it like it’s his own (because results will be judged that way).

This is a working manager position — you’ll be in the saddle, on the tractor, and in the chute every day, while also building and leading a team that performs at a high level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full P&L responsibility for the cow-calf operation (herd health, breeding, calf crop %, death loss, cost per weaned calf)
  • Artificial insemination program (heat detection, semen handling, and execution — must be proficient or better)
  • Pasture management: rotational grazing, fertilizer/herbicide programs, soil testing, weed control, fence/water infrastructure
  • Actively source and secure additional leased grazing land to grow the herd
  • Equipment maintenance and fabrication — keep everything running and improve what’s broken
  • Estate/grounds caretaking: mowing, tree trimming, leaf cleanup, shop and facility upkeep (appearance matters)
  • Hire, train, schedule, and lead a crew of 3-6 hands. We run hard, expect a lot, and move fast. You must be able to push a team to high output and have the judgment to know when someone isn’t cutting it.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years running or second-in-command on a commercial cow-calf operation (references will be checked hard)
  • Proven AI experience with good conception rates
  • Strong grasstop-to-soil pasture and forage knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to find and negotiate leased ground
  • Competent mechanic/welder/fabricator
  • Experience leading and getting real production out of ranch labor
  • Clean driving record, ability to pass background check
  • Physically fit — this is a demanding, outdoor, year-round job

Attitude We Want

  • Ownership mentality — treat every dollar like your own
  • High standards and low tolerance for excuses or half-effort (from yourself or the crew)
  • Self-starter who hates being micromanaged and doesn’t need to be told twice
  • Thick skin and direct communication style

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary depending on experience ($70k–$100k+ base)
  • Performance bonuses tied directly to weaning percentage, cost per pound gained, and overall profit
  • On-ranch housing available (utilities paid)
  • Beef, health insurance stipend, work vehicle, fuel, phone

TO APPLY:

If you’re the real deal and this sounds like your kind of outfit, email your résumé/with references and a paragraph on your proudest accomplishment in the cattle business.

No tire-kickers or résumé collectors. Only apply if you’re ready to run hard and be judged strictly on results.
