Burrows Ranch, a picturesque 300 acres +/- estate family ranch in the heart of East Texas, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Ranch Manager to oversee daily operations and ensure the smooth running of our hobby ranch. We specialize in raising Texas Longhorn cattle, growing pine timber, and maintaining a variety of animals including horses, cows, and chickens. We also operate a small lumber mill to cut our own lumber and entertain guests with various ranch activities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone passionate about rural living, agriculture, and hands-on ranch work in a family-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the care and management of Texas Longhorn cattle, horses, cows, and chickens, including feeding, health monitoring, breeding, and general animal husbandry.
  • Manage pine timber operations, including planting, maintenance, harvesting coordination, and sustainable forestry practices.
  • Operate and maintain the small lumber mill for cutting and processing our own lumber.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on ranch equipment, structures, and facilities.
  • Maintain fencing, mowing pastures, and ensuring the overall upkeep of the 300 acres +/- property.
  • Handle agricultural mechanics, welding, and basic carpentry tasks as needed for ranch improvements and repairs.
  • Assist with horsemanship duties, including riding, training, and care of horses.
  • Attend to and assist guests with activities such as horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and other ranch experiences; availability for occasional weekend or evening needs is required.
  • Monitor ranch security, weather impacts, and implement safety protocols.
  • Coordinate with family owners on long-term ranch goals and seasonal activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in horsemanship, including riding and horse care.
  • Strong knowledge of cattle management, particularly with breeds like Texas Longhorns.
  • Proficiency in agricultural mechanics, welding, and some carpentry.
  • Expertise in fencing installation and repair.
  • Skilled in mowing and land maintenance using tractors and other equipment.
  • Comprehensive animal care experience, including health, nutrition, and veterinary basics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., in welding or agriculture) are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, with physical stamina for outdoor labor in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; CDL is preferred but not required.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and ethical animal practices.

Salary: $35,000-$45,000 annually (commensurate with experience), plus benefits including potential housing, utilities, and vehicle use.

We offer a competitive salary based on experience, along with perks that may include on-site housing, utilities, and use of ranch vehicles to make this a rewarding lifestyle opportunity. If you have a passion for ranch life and the skills to thrive in a dynamic family ranch setting, we’d love to hear from you!
