Yates Ranches, LTD.
Yates Ranches is a multi-generational, family-owned cattle operation spanning four distinct ranch properties along the San Saba / Llano County line. The ranches have been continuously owned and operated by the same family since the 1920s and are currently managed by one of the two owners and her husband. We are seeking a capable, experienced individual (or couple/family) for a long-term partnership in the day-to-day management of the cattle and ranch infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities
- Feed and care for approximately 300 cow-calf units and accompanying bulls
- Oversee and manage comprehensive herd health protocols
- Supervise the working of all cattle a minimum of twice yearly
- Hire, direct, and oversee the crew during cattle workdays
- Maintain an individual ear-tag identification system (including potential use of electronic tags) and keep accurate matching records
- Maintain or supervise maintenance of the ranch road system, water facilities, and fences
- Maintain or supervise maintenance of the ranch headquarters, including the family estate
- Coordinate seasonal hunting activities
Qualifications
Significant hands-on experience in cow-calf ranch management or a formal ranch management degree is required. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate proven ability in herd health, cattle handling, record-keeping, infrastructure maintenance, and crew leadership. Candidates must pass a criminal background check, possess a valid Texas driver’s license, and maintain a clean driving record.

- Approximately 10 minutes from Cherokee
- Approximately 20 minutes from both Llano and San Saba

Compensation
Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with experience and current market rates for comparable positions in the Texas Hill Country.
