Ranch Manager needed at Horse Boarding Operation in Leander, Texas

Hard Six is a premiere horse breeding ranch and part of an up and coming biotechnology company. We are looking for a ranch manager who is reliable, honest, hard working and independent. Someone with autonomy and initiative to solve issues as they arise and is always striving to make the ranch a better place. This position involves physical labor and standard ranch hand work. We will have veterinary operations and horse training sessions on site regularly. Be prepared to grow with our company as we get more animals. Currently we have horses and rabbits but are anticipating a small population of cattle and pigs for breeding programs by the fall. Someone with experience with animals beyond just horses is preferred.

Compensation will be proportional to experience and overall performance. This position comes with an opportunity to really grow a career in a unique field of large animal reproduction technology.

DUTIES:

• Feed Horses daily 8:00am (except Sunday)
• Maintain round feeders with adequate hay for 24/7 access
• Maintain stock tanks
• Shovel and maintain horse manure within stable, round pen, and immediate surrounding area
• Keep barns and tack room clean
• Feed & maintain rabbit hutches
• Wash saddles and tack and needed
• Take trash out on weekly schedule
• Maintain pest management including flies & mosquitos
• Maintain and help establish raised beds with regular watering, weeding and harvesting produce
• Tend to land brush as needed, maintaining a safe pasture for all animals
• Maintaining the house by keeping it clean & organized
• Ability to help with other related duties on the ranch including fixing fencing, operating equipment, and anything else Hard Six needs to scale and maintain our ranch

Horse care:

• Clean hooves
• Groom fur
• Report health issues or strange behavior
• Spray down with fly control when necessary

ABOUT:

• Located in Leander, Texas 78641
• Hours of operation are 8AM to 2PM Monday – Saturday with Sundays off
• $18/hour starting pay with opportunity for management position and higher pay

REQUIREMENTS: 

• Able to lift 50lbs and manage heavy items on a regular basis
• At least 2 years experience working on a ranch
• Exceptional communication and autonomy
• Experience with horses
• Works well with others and can handle changes
